Britto is said to have presented Pele to sceptical managers of Santos, boldly starting Pele to become the best player that ever lived. Whether truly or not he believed in his passionate statement whether at the time he made it remains immaterial. The world began to sit up and pay attention to Pele when the 17-year old scored a whopping 6 goals during the 1958 world cup, thereby leading the brazilian national team to victory. Brazil won its first world cup that year. In his full career he has scored 1289 goals, and is only second to Arthur Friedenreich, an another brazilian soccer player who scored 1329 goals in his career. He was also known for his tremendous speed and balance, his jumping and ball-controlling abilities, and his spectacular goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo is a professional football player and he plays as a powerful striker for Portugal. In his whole career he has played for four clubs; man united, Juventus, Real Madrid and Al Nassar. He won three consecutive premier league titles, a champions league and a FIFA club world cup with man utd. Then at Juventus he won two Serie As, one Coppa Italia and two italian super cups. Also while at Madrid he played with some of the most famous players that ever played in the club like Ronaldo Naziro! Also he is often competed against Lionel Messi. The trophies he won for Real Madrid were four champions league titles, three Supercopas de Europa, three Mundial De clubs, four Balan 'dors, two Ligas, two Copa del Reys and two Supercopas de Espana. Cristiano Ronaldo actually had heart surgery when he was 15. He underwent a heat procedure to treat a irregular heartbeat. He had experienced episodes of dizziness and fatigue for several years to prior surgery and was advised by doctors to have it done in order to improve his health. After being released from the hospital, he took some time off in football in order to fully recover from the procedure. Fortunately, Ronaldo made a full recovery and was able to return playing again. Cristiano Ronaldo is also one of the most successful players in the world, although he didn 't win a world cup, but he won a European cup at least.

On October, 30, 1961, Diego Armando Maradona came from a poor family. He grew up in a slum of Villa Fiorita near Buenous Aires. His parents found it hard to raise 8 siblings. Maradona loved soccer then. Maradona got his first football at just 3 years old. Entranced with the ball, he slept with it at night. When he was nine, Francis Cornejo, the coach of the youth Argentinos juniors or "the little onions" as they where called noticed his skills. That is how Maradona started at the little onions. Then when he grew up he won two world cups. When Maradona played for Argentinos juniors the stadiums were jam-packed revealing his growing popularity. He was associated with this team from 1978 to 1982. For Maradona, football represented a way to freedom from poverty. When he was just 21, he moved to Barcelona for a record $7.7 million. This deal made him headline all over the world. Maradona made efforts to play for the Argentinian national soccer team in 1978 and 1992 but was disappointed. Cesar Menotti, the Argentinian coach for the world cup team, cut short Maradona's dreams to play in the 1978 world cup. In 1982, he kicked a player from Brazil kicked in the groin and was expelled from the game. He finally got his chance in 1996.

Brazilian football teams have a long tradition of using wing backs. Cafu (aka Marcos Evangelista De Moraes)is a prime example. Famous for his overlapping runs, he is one of the few players to have appeared in four world cup tournaments and won two of them. Cafu was also a dynamic, hard working powerful right back and also is the most capped Brazilian man, with more than 140 caps including a record 20 world cup games. He was also born in 7 June 1970. He is one of the most skillful, successful and wildly respecting attacking full backs in the modern game. Cafu began his career with his hometown club Sao Paulo in the late 1980s, and quickly became a crucial member of the team as they enjoyed great success in the early part of the 1990s. In a little over six years at the club, he who a Brazilian league championship medal in 1991, and helped the club to win the Copa Libertadores and the intercontinental cup in each of the next two years. Also becoming established in the national team, Cafu played in the Copa America in both 1991 and 1993 before making his world cup debut in the U.S.A. In 1994, playing two matches won there first title in 1970. Now, he is one of the best defenders in the world.

During world war 2, at the age of 12, Lev Yashin was evacuated from his family at Ulyanovsk, in 1943 went to a factory as apprentice fitter.
